Segments

What you'll learn

  • Define criteria that group invoices for targeted cadences.
  • Preview eligible invoices before publishing.
  • Apply Autopilot safety rules per segment.

Step-by-step

  1. Create a new segment.
    • Go to Admin → Segments and click New Segment.
    • Choose filters such as aging bucket, balance range, industry, region, or customer score.
  2. Preview eligibility.
    • Use the live preview table to confirm which invoices match. Export the preview if you need to share with stakeholders.
    • Adjust filters until the coverage and risk profile align with your goal (e.g., SMB 1-30 vs. Enterprise 60+).
  3. Assign policies and Autopilot rules.
    • Select the cadence version each segment should use.
    • Decide whether the segment starts in Shadow Mode or Autopilot; configure send caps and quiet hours overrides if needed.
  4. Publish and monitor.
    • Save the segment and monitor the Segment Health widget for coverage, bounce rates, and promise adherence.
    • Document rationale in segment notes, especially for high-risk or manual segments.

Success checks

  • Each segment has clear entry/exit criteria and aligns with an appropriate cadence.
  • Previews confirm high data quality (contact coverage, accurate balances).
  • Autopilot is only enabled when guardrails are met and monitored.

Common pitfalls

  • Overlapping segments. Avoid duplicate targeting by using mutually exclusive criteria.
  • Ignoring coverage. Segments with <70% contacts should be fixed before publishing.
  • Set-and-forget. Review segment health weekly to adjust for changing portfolio risk.
